Global Executive MBA Student
What was the main reason you decided to study at IE?
IE’s Global Executive MBA Program offered everything I was looking for in an MBA program—a focus on global business and innovation, a diverse class of experienced executives from all over the world, and an emphasis on leadership and personal development. I had been thinking about doing an MBA for a long time, and when I read the GXMBA program and student profiles, I knew I’d found the right fit to help me grow as a global leader.
What was the greatest challenge you faced during your studies?
Balancing a full-time job with a demanding full-time program is a real challenge. The course content is so engaging and valuable that you want to dive deeply into every lesson. Your time management skills are honed by necessity, and you constantly have to choose what to prioritize.
What has been the primary lesson you learned during your program?
Of the numerous lessons learned during the program, the key lesson for me was that good leaders are always learning. Leadership and personal development is a core pillar of the program, and this greatly enhanced my growth mindset. Learning doesn’t stop once you leave the classroom; the information, tools, and practices you need are all around you. It’s never too late to embark on a new trajectory of learning.
How has this program impacted your life?
This program has significantly expanded the way I view and analyze global issues. I see issues through a much more strategic and business lens and can bring a wider array of quantitative and qualitative tools to analyzing them. Considering that my experience prior to the program was in the international non-profit world, this is quite a sea change, and the impact on my work and career is evident.
What was the best memory you have from the program?
In the future when I look back on the program, I know my best memories will come from the time spent with my amazing classmates, who have become life-long friends. Representing about 20 countries and sectors, with decades of experience, my classmates bring so many invaluable insights to the learning process. And it’s been remarkable to feel the collective support for each other as we pursue this challenging program together. On top of that, they are a lot of fun!
