On November 7, the launch of the international NGO of women entrepreneurs Women Presidents ’Organization (WPO) Spain Chapter was held at the IE Business School – IE University, Madrid Campus. EY was our sponsor, offering us a delicious cocktail accompanied by a glass of wine, which we enjoyed a lot.
WPO is the most prestigious businesswomen organization in the world. It is an invitation to grow, not only as businesswomen but also in our most personal and intimate forum. We are integral people and we cannot separate what happens to us in the company from what happens to us in our homes or to ourselves as women.
In this way, being a member of WPO offers us the possibility of not feeling so lonely at the top, and be able to open, show ourselves vulnerable and share our challenges with a very selected group of colleagues, who are willing to give everything to help us in this way.
Roundtable and peer2peer learning
In a four-hour monthly session, the methodology we use in all chapters of the world is that of roundtable and peer2peer learning. We work on the cases of each of the businesswomen, which make learning absolutely relevant and tangible.
One of the characteristics of the WPO members is their ability to give. Month after month, I witness the generosity with which their experiences, contacts, challenges, joys, sorrows, frustrations and achievements are shared. Each session is a unique learning opportunity.
We work under the following four values: confidentiality, collaboration, connections, and commitment.
Based in NYC, WPO has a network of more than 2000 businesswomen, in 140 chapters, on 6 continents. Each local chapter is made up of up to 20 leading businesswomen in their industries.
To qualify for membership, women entrepreneurs are required to meet these three requirements:
- Be a female CEO, director or general manager.
- Be a shareholder.
- Company revenue over 1 million dollars a year (service companies) and over 2 million dollars a year (product companies).
