Last week, the IE Women in Business Club kicked off the first meeting in our new Lean In Circles series. If you have never heard of Lean In, it is a concept that was started by Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook. It started as a book and has evolved into an international movement where women gather in “circles” that inspire a sense of community, confidence, and actions that empower them to be their best selves.
The IE WiB Club has initiated a 5-part series focusing on centered leadership. Each session will focus on a different segment of leadership: Meaning, Framing, Connecting, Engaging, and Energizing. Our first circles met last week starting with discussions on the Meaning of Centered Leadership. In groups of about 10 participants, we had open discussions and completed activities to find our strengths and purposes. The next step involved creating strategies to actively practice these strengths. Our participants left feeling supported, motivated, and excited for the next session. We even had a couple curious men join our circles who provided wonderful conversation and benefited from the activities!
Feel free to read the book Lean In and join us for our next circle to learn more!
“We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence, by not raising our hands, and by pulling back when we should be leaning in.” -Sheryl Sandberg
