Current job: Markets, Economic Recovery and Growth Sector Manager at Mercy Corps
1. What was the main reason you decided to study at IE?
First and foremost I wanted an excellent quality of education. IE’s GMBA program consistently came up as one of the top online MBA programs. However, it was the unique blended in-person and online format and the diversity of the student body that solidified my decision. I was looking for a program where I could build a global network of colleagues and one that was representative of the diverse work environment I’m currently in.
2. What was the greatest challenge you faced during your studies?
My greatest challenge was the initial adjustment to the workload. When I started the program I had just moved to Lebanon for a new job and was also 5 months pregnant. I was busy. I had to learn how to balance my personal and professional responsibilities and after many early mornings and late nights, I found my rhythm. We all have personal lives and demanding professional lives with new challenges presenting themselves along the way. I now find myself more resilient in navigating and embracing changes when balancing a heavy workload.
3. What has been the primary lesson you learned during your program?
My primary lesson is that much of my learning has come from my interactions with my classmates in our online forums and in our group projects. My class represents different nationalities, industries and the majority of people are just like me, working outside of our home country and traveling frequently. The experiences and caliber of my classmates has enriched my MBA experience greatly and pushes me harder to listen, engage and learn.
