After a successful second edition of the EPIC Awards last year, the Dean’s Office and IE Global Alumni Relations is launching its third edition this year. The main objective of this project is to share the stories of our outstanding alumni, and inspire our network to pursue continuous learning and excellence.
These are the stories of the 3 finalists as outstanding examples of the impact our IE Women alumni are making around the world. Learn about the nominated for the EPIC Awards in the category of Women Inspiring Women:
Verónica Pascual is CEO at ASTI, one of the most powerful robotics companies in Europe. Since being founded, it has carried out the STEM Talent Girl program, which seeks to educate and inspire girls who work in scientific and technological areas.
JULIE GARLAND MCLELLAN
Julie Garland McLellan offers her experience and wisdom to the companies that hire her as a consultant. In addition to consulting in her 16 years as a company director, she has helped a total of 17 Boards of Directors that were facing “interesting challenges.” In addition, she is the creator of the famous newsletter known as The Director’s Dilemma, which is read by directors all over the world. Although she began in engineering, her professional life has been focused on governance, strategy and decision making. Since then, she confesses that she has been “addicted” to board meetings! And the fact is that the results support this.
MARTA FERNÁNDEZ HERRAIZ
In 2014, Marta Fernández Herraiz decided to launch a networking operation specifically aimed at lesbian women and called it Lesworking. To date it has organized more than 20 events and has more than 1,300 members from the most varied professional sectors.
During the upcoming IE Global Alumni Weekend, hosted from June 8th until the 10th on our Madrid Campus, IE Alumni will celebrate the third class of EPIC finalists. EPIC are alumni awards launched by IE Global Alumni Relations, and aims to share the stories of our outstanding alumni across all IE schools (masters and undergraduate programs) to inspire the IE community.
EPIC stands for Extraordinary People Inspiring the IE Community.
The IE experience involves a personal and professional transformation process that is ultimately reflected in the achievements of our alumni. Our more than 60,000 alumni contribute to their organizations and society in more than 160 countries worldwide.
EPIC alumni perform in their personal and professional lives by the same standards of excellence that have been taught at IE’s undergraduate and master programs. Our EPIC alumni are accomplished entrepreneurs, leaders, and role models that show commitment to society and deliver exemplary work in their fields of knowledge throughout the different stages of their lives.
