Born into a family business, IE Professor Cruz dedicates most of her teaching and research to studying organizations in which a family group is present and has an influence in strategic decision making.
The results of her research have been published in leading international academic journals and in recognition of this research work, in 2010, IE Business School awarded Professor Cruz with the “Research Excellence Award”, granted to the school´s best researchers.
Last week she presented the multimedia case, featured case of the quarter by The Case Centre, : “The Entrepreneurial Journey of a Manager” at the World Business Forum in Madrid.
The case is about María Eugenia Giron, Carrera y Carrera (CyC) CEO. A top line manager who decides to switch towards entrepreneurship in the growing luxury industry through a well-established company.
The entrepreneurship professor explains “The beauty of the case is that it allows us to show students a different type of entrepreneur, a model that is far from the traditional founder of a start up. In doing so, the case fits perfectly with our “Entrepreneurial Mind-set” course in which we try to create an entrepreneurial mentality in all students.”
